Cry Baby, Cry
As some of you May know I have a way low tolerance for whiney ass attitudes. I am not sure where I got it from but here it is.
I could probably be like a lot of people out there that can just air out all of my angst and whine bitch and moan over how the world hates me or how I just can’t seem to even get ahead (of course it wouldn’t be MY fault or anything). I even get a touch pissy when I overhear someone complaining over the weather (it’s true, it may be HOT as hell, or COLD as a witch’s tit…but wtf can ya do?).
But when it gets to the serious stuff like the way you live or your spouse is an ass or even that you just don’t like who is in office… NO one seems to want to make the steps needed to make that change. These are usually the very same people that are crying about everything under the sun.
I know a woman who has been long suffering in a relationship where she is just miserable; her hubby won’t work so it’s up to her to pay for everything, including hubby’s new toys he must have in order to exist on this planet. Every time she comes here to visit I am drowned in her self-pity flood until I get fed up enough to look at her and say, “Well, you can always just leave him. You deserve to be happy” her standard reply is ALWAYS “I can’t because I don’t want to lose the house.” Um it’s in his name even though she has paid the mortgage for years; a good lawyer can help her. But NO she stays day after day, year after year. It’s not for any other reason but, what would she complain about if she did leave?
Sadly, the growing trend out there is that everyone is waiting for someone else to do the dirty work for them.
In one of my classes there are students that sit idly by waiting for another classmate or the teacher to come by and light the way for them. Why not read the book? We go step by step for goodness sakes! But no, it is so much easier to allow someone else to do the work for them.
I just don’t get it.
If you can try to change or situation for the better why not do it? Maybe my genetic code just doesn’t allow for sitting on my ass and watching everyone else pass me by. Maybe it’s me that’s messed up and not the examples I have used?
I was told not long ago by a neighbor that anything I have to say in town hall meetings will do any good. I refuse to accept that. “Yer just one person”, his drunken wisdom said. I disagreed and probably always will.
One small woman wrote a book not far from where I am sitting that not only changed the country but brought it to war. A man took a tour of a Chicago meat packing plant at the turn of the 20th century and not only changed the way meat was processed BUT was responsible for the Government to install the FDA and changed how we eat forever.
They weren’t a team of people. They were alone.
If they can do it…why can’t we?
